The National Association of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) is a bar association for legal professionals whose practice focuses on Social Security claimants—people who are disabled, often gravely ill, homeless, or similarly marginalized, and who face extreme administrative hurdles.
NOSSCR underwent several major organizational changes in 2023, including a change in headquarters and a new CEO. It was time to refresh its logo and brand identity, which had been in place since 2012. They partnered with F+A to strategize, develop, and implement an updated graphic identity that reflects NOSSCR’s mission and values in 2024 and beyond.

Background and intention
NOSSCR’s goals for the rebrand were to emphasize the organization's modern, community-oriented aspects. They host events and continuing education sessions throughout the year for members from across the country to mingle and learn from each other. The members we spoke with as part of our research spoke highly of the events and continuing education, citing them as essential tools for rowing their practice. NOSSCR also focuses on advocacy and building relationships with Social Security Administration officials and congressional leaders. To effect systemic change, they’ll also be bringing key litigation against SSA.Solutions
F+A created and identified eight initial concepts for the logo, presenting them to NOSSCR for a first look. Using feedback from the NOSSCR team, we refined and finalized the design, ultimately delivering four versions of the logo: Horizontal and stacked, with a banner celebrating their 45th anniversary in 2024.
The previous NOSSCR logo used a dark, conservative colorway and featured a prominent “SS.” The new logo keeps a similar color palette but emphasizes a brighter blue, combining the double S in a graphic treatment that adds polish and symmetry.
