• Luvera Law Firm’s Mark Kamitomo took a stand for the rule of law on the first day of the month, as he reaffirmed his oath on what was known nationally as Law Day. He also shared his perspective in a powerful Seattle Times op-ed, discussing the impact of World War II internment camps on his family and other Canadian and U.S. citizens, and his own full-circle moment. 

• Comprehensive Healthcare works to provide innovative, integrated healthcare and services to individuals, families, and organizations in Central Washington – and its most recent initiative addresses both mental health struggles and housing instability. The organization held an open house for Vista Del Sol-2, an expansion of its original permanent supportive housing facility, Vista Del Sol, designed for low-income adults living with diagnosed chronic mental health conditions. 

• In alignment with its mission to support healthy communities and personal wellbeing, Talking Rain Beverage Company, makers of Sparkling Ice, announced the launch of a new workshop curriculum developed by its nonprofit partner, The Jed Foundation (JED). The curriculum, “Championing Mental Health: Winning Strategies for Supporting Student-Athletes,” provides essential training and tools for college coaches and athletic directors to identify signs of mental distress among student-athletes and offer trauma-sensitive support. 

• More excitement brewed at Talking Rain this month as it was also proud to receive the PSBJ Corporate Compassion Award for its contributions to the wellbeing of the Puget Sound’s communities through philanthropy, volunteerism, and innovative partnerships. It supports numerous local charities and events, along with national partners Girls on the Run, The Jed Foundation, and K9s For Warriors.
